Activity 1 Business Communication

1. How do you define communication?

For me the communication is the process of sharing information between different individuals. It includes the sharing of ideas, concepts, imaginations, etc. Is simply defined as the transfer of information from one place to another.

2. What is the role of communication in management of business?

Effective communication is the key to successful management because communication allows managers to share goals with shareholders both inside and outside the organisation. It permits managers to stimulate behaviour changes in employees and suppliers. It enable managers to inspire loyalty from employees and customers.

3. What are the different purposes of communication? Briefly explain any five of them.

For information: The purpose is to explain information about tasks and stuffs to a group or individual.

For direction: It’s necessary to use communication to spread directions by the top to the low.

4. Discuss the different situations when the communication exists.

First we have a person who wants to share information to somebody else, so we have other person to receive that information and try to understand it and if he or she want to respond it’s allowed.

5. “Communication is an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions and emotions by two or more

persons.” Explain the statement and discuss the role of feedback in communication.

We need another person or a group to transmit something so it’s necessary two or more people to communicate something to receive or share the information that we want to.

6. “Communication is the two way process.” Explain.

It must be two or more people who can share information speaker to receiver and vice versa.

7. Discuss the elements of the communication process.

Sender: who is sharing the information.

Message: the information to transmit.

Encoding: structure of the information or message.

Channel: the way where the information is going to be passed.

Receiver: person who receives the information.

Decoding: how the receiver interprets the information.

Feedback: answer from the receiver and exchange of opinions.

8. Give three examples of brain drain in the communication process.

When we speak with people from other countries and they don’t understand the language well.

When we use a lot of technicalities in our words.

When the sender does not have a clear idea of what he wants to convey.

  1. I just read your post and in the second question, you explicate in regard to stimulate behaviors changes in employees and suppliers, personally, that’s a very important point, good communicators are persuasive, for instance in teamwork, when you are good at influencing others you can convince your team that your idea is the best.

    Well done!
